Seeing Red

J Fresh Hockey puts out the team’s advanced analytics card following their elimination. The chart, which has a lot of red, showing the Islanders are in the bottom third of a lot of categories, was accompanied by this: “Goodbye to the New York Islanders, a not very good team with some solid net-front guys and two very good goalies that got a solid new coach bump and then ran into a less-than-ideal matchup”

📚 SOUND SMART: Per Eric Hornick in The Skinny, the Isles are 175-149 in 324 all-time playoff games. They are 98-56 at home (88-44 at the Coliseum, 2-5 at Barclays, 5-2 in Toronto, 1-2 in Edmonton, and 2-3 at UBS Arena) and 77-93 on the road. In this year's playoffs, the Isles are 1-1 at home and 0-3 on the road.

🎥 ISLES REWIND: On May 3, 1983, Mike Bossy scored the fourth of his five career postseason hat tricks in the New York Islanders’ 8-3 win over the Boston Bruins in Game 4 of the Wales Conference Final. After losing Game 5, the Islanders returned home and scored eight goals to close out the series in six games and advance to their fourth straight Stanley Cup Final.

"We played an excellent game," said Isles goaltender Billy Smith. "I would think anybody could see that. I have no idea how Boston played. You want to know that, ask them. All I know is how we played."
