Good Morning, Islanders Country.
It was a night of firsts at UBS Arena.
A first impression for Bo Horvat, a first NHL goal for Samuel Bolduc, the first time scoring four goals in front of the home fans in 2023, and the first time in front of anyone since Jan. 3 in Vancouver.
It was also the first time Horvat heard his name being chanted.
“It was pretty amazing,” said Horvat. “I haven't had a chant like that in a building, that loud, I don't think ever, so that was pretty amazing.”
It was the first .. no, it wasn’t the first shutout for Ilya Sorokin; that happens all the time. Sorokin has stopped 61 straight shots during his latest shutout streak, which stands 132:16 long. It is the longest active streak in the NHL and the 5th-longest this season.
The All-Star goaltender earned a shutout for the second consecutive start and now has 15 in his career in just 110 games, meaning 13.6% of all his starts end in a shutout. That’s ridiculous.
