Good Morning, Islanders Country.
There are 11 games left in the season, and realistically, the Islanders need 16-18 points to have a shot at making the playoffs. Even then, it may not be enough.
That’s their reality when they take the ice in Florida tonight against the Panthers. A win brings hope; a second win two nights later in Tampa brings momentum, and then, I guess you see what happens. If things go the other way, then we’ve officially entered playing out the string territory before April. Depressing.
On Tuesday, the team took a break from reality and had a light-hearted, laughter-filled night with season ticket holders at UBS Arena. If you’ve watched the clips (there are plenty of them), you get a sense of how much this team enjoys being with each other. They came across as a group of best friends, probably because some of them are, but that alone doesn’t get you into the post-season.
