Good Morning, Islanders Country.
Kyle Palmieri was dominant. Kyle Palmieri was in control. Kyle Palmieri was awesome. Palms had one of his best nights as an Islander, and his line with Pierre Engvall and Brock Nelson carried the Islanders to a much-needed win following a lackluster weekend. To say Palmieri has been streaky since arriving on Long Island would be an understatement, but he now has 22 points in the 27 games since returning from injury on Jan. 23. The 32-year-old has 10 points (5G, 5A) over the last six games and is now tied with Brock Nelson for the most points on the team (13) since Feb. 19. He’s playing really well right now and has been an understated catalyst during this push for the playoffs without Mathew Barzal.
"Obviously, we didn't like the results on Friday and Saturday. We left some points on the table there, and we know going into this week with six or seven games left, it's make or break for the rest of the way. It was a good effort tonight, and we're happy to get the win."

Last night’s game was played fast with a high pace was high throughout. The Isles entered the third period up 2-1, and though the Devils had them on their heels at times, Ilya Sorokin was calm in the net, was great when he needed to be, and allowed his team to find their footing long enough to earn the winning result.
The game was tightly contested, much more so than the 5-1 final score (and the Deserve to Win O’Meter says NJ had the better of the play), but the Isles won a playoff-style game against a playoff-bound opponent and slowed the Devils down enough to strengthen their position to join the post-season party.
They out-scored the playoff-bound Toronto Maple Leafs and New Jersey Devils 12-3 in their last two wins, proving once again that they rise to the level of their competition. They’ll need that level to stay there if they want not only to make the playoffs but remain in the top Wild Card spot.
Coming up, Kyle Palmieri’s highlight reel backhand, and will Bo Horvat’s empty netter help him find his scoring touch? Plus, Sebastian Aho skates at practice, Lane Lambert shuffles up the lines, Matthew Maggio takes home some hardware and third-period dominance we haven’t seen since the Drive for Five.
