Fifteen games remain in the Islanders season and the playoff race in the Eastern Conference is tightening up. It feels like the Penguins and Blue Jackets refuse to surrender any points, while the Isles are doing their best to boost their total as well. Sean & Arthur take a look at how things are shaping up and St. Louis Blues writer for the Athletic Jeremy Rutherford joins to talk about what fans can expect from newest Islander Brayden Schenn.

Hockey Night in NY

Good Morning, Islanders Country.

The Islanders spent the weekend trying to win hockey games in two very different ways. One almost worked. The other just barely did.

Friday night began the way no team chasing a playoff spot wants a game to begin. The Islanders were down 3–0 after one period against the Los Angeles Kings, and for a while, the sellout crowd at UBS Arena was dumbfounded.

But this Islanders team has made a habit of refusing to follow the script.

They pushed back. They chipped away. They got within one early in the third period, and suddenly UBS Arena was alive again, fans sensing the comeback that has become a familiar part of this season. The Islanders had momentum, pressure, and chances.

They just ran out of clock.

Twenty-four hours later, in the same building and in front of another packed house, the Islanders flipped the entire script.
