For some, there was a bigger event happening in southern California last night, but for Islanders fans, eyes weren’t on the red carpet but rather their red hot team that woke up in a playoff spot for the first time since Jan. 13 after a mostly comfortable 6-1 win in Anaheim on Sunday night.
After an award-winning performance in the first period, the Islanders underwhelmed in the second but were able to maintain a two-goal heading into intermission before taking back control in the third. For the second straight game against one of the league’s worst teams, the Islanders did what good teams do to bad teams, and right now, the Isles are playing as a very good team.
Six Goals. Six Different Players. Six wins in a row.
13 different Islanders made the scoresheet as they did not trail for the fifth time in the last six games. It was the first time since 1988 that the Islanders have had back-to-back road wins of five goals or more and their first six-game winning streak since a 9-0-0 stretch from Feb. 28 to March 4, 2021.
