Perfect 10!
Isles with another improbable OT win
Good Morning, Islanders Country.
I have to come clean.
When the Islanders appeared to fall behind 4–0 to the St. Louis Blues in Brayden Schenn’s homecoming game — with Ilya Sorokin getting the hook and David Rittich stretching his legs at the end of the bench — I did what many of you probably did.
I looked for something else to watch.
In my case, it was the final minutes of Hofstra’s conference championship game. The Pride was closing in on a title and a trip to the dance, and the Islanders… well, the Islanders looked finished.
But hockey has a funny way of punishing those who look away.
By the time the final buzzer sounded and I checked back, the script had already begun to change. A goal had been wiped off the board after a successful offside challenge. Suddenly, the deficit wasn’t four anymore. Then JG Pageau scored.
And if you’ve watched this Islanders team at all this season, you know what that means: they had a chance. And with this group, a chance is all it takes.
