Good Morning, Islanders Country.
This isn’t a political post, but a post influenced by politics.
Right-track/wrong-track polls are a standard tool used in political and public opinion research to gauge how people feel about the country's overall direction. These surveys ask respondents a simple question: Do you think things are headed in the right direction, or are they on the wrong track?
The primary purpose of these polls is to measure general public sentiment. When most people believe the country is on the "right track," it often suggests confidence in the current leadership. Conversely, when the majority thinks the country is on the "wrong track," it signals dissatisfaction.
I put out a right-track/wrong-track poll on Saturday, but I replaced the country with the Islanders. There were 566 respondents, and nearly two-thirds said the organization is on the Wrong Track. I think that feels right, and if you polled 5,000 instead of 500, you’d get a similar response.
There are the eternal optimists. Those who think Mitch Marner will end up on Long Island or that if they stay healthy, things will be a lot different. The realists, well, they’re with the eternal pessimists right now. We can, and probably will, continue to dissect and break down the past few days and what the Islanders should do over the summer. But, if you break down things in their simplest terms, is this team, on the ice, on the right track or the wrong track?
