⏭ NEXT UP: The Islanders are in Boston tonight to take on the 10-1-1 Bruins at TD Garden. Face-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM EST.
📊 STANDINGS:
📚 SOUND SMART: Per Eric Hornick in The Skinny, the Isles have outscored their opponents 11-4 in the first period (the four goals allowed is the fewest in the NHL); they allowed the first goal for only the third time in eleven games.
The Isles have led at some point in ten of their eleven games
🎥 ISLES REWIND: On November 9, 1976, seven Islanders scored, including two from Bob Bourne, as the Islanders routed the Detroit Red Wings 8-1 at the Nassau Coliseum. The win was the Islanders’ fourth straight and extended their unbeaten streak to six. In his 11th game of the year, Bryan Trottier scored his first goal of the season on the power-play to open the scoring early in the first. The Isles put 47 shots on net against Ed Giacomin, who made 39 saves in the loss. Chico Resch had 23 saves in the win.

🔗 Islanders arias going sour in 3rd periods: ‘The consistency of the identity has not been there,’ by Joe Pantorno, AMNY “The unmistakeable and puzzling sounds of a faceless, nameless, and perhaps intoxicated suite member at UBS Arena singing opera just outside the Islanders’ locker room provided a bewildering soundtrack as defenseman Ryan Pulock attempted to parse through what went wrong for his side in the third period of Tuesday night’s 4-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild.”
🔗 What role does Matt Martin still play with this NY Islanders team? by Michael Stahurski, “In the final year of his contract with the Isles, Martin's time on ice has been significantly reduced this season. Averaging 10:53 a game for his career, Martin has only averaged under ten minutes in two seasons - both in his two years with the Toronto Maple Leafs (8:53 in 2016-17 and 7:59 in 2017-18). Through the Isles' 11 games this season, Martin is averaging just 8:39 a night, topping the ten-minute mark just twice.”
