Good Morning, Islanders Country.
When we remember Noah Dobson’s 2023-24 season, we’ll likely forget his forgetful stretch of play that has accompanied the Islanders' downturn.
Whether it was the heavy minutes logged early in the season, adapting to Patrick Roy’s system tweaks, or even shaken confidence, Dobson’s production, which has been on a Potvin-esque pace all season, slowed down to an Andy Greene or Scott Mayfield-type level over the last month.
In the 17 games since his Stadium Series turnover in overtime to Artemi Panarin, Dobson has just one goal and six assists. To put that in perspective, he had three assists in the outdoor game, something he accomplished six times this season.
As Dobson goes, so does the team’s power play, and the 24-year-old has been without a point in the last five games and has just one assist in his last nine games. If Dobson isn’t producing with the man advantage, it’s unlikely any other Islanders defenseman will either. Dobson has 24 points on the power play this season (1 goal, 23 assists), and Ryan Puock is next with four.
