Good Evening, Islanders Country.
It's a Quick Fix featuring Joe Buono (@IslesFix) and former VP of Communications for the Islanders, Chris Botta (@ChrisBottaNHL).
The Islanders’ search for Lou Lamoriello’s replacement(s) has reached the one-month mark and continues to evolve. On Thursday, the team got permission from the Maple Leafs to speak to team president Brendan Shanahan. The Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) is holding a board meeting on Thursday, and Shanahan’s future is expected to be on the agenda.
Meanwhile, Marc Bergevin and Mathieu Darche reportedly had their second interviews, but they are holding a pattern as John Collins and the rest of the Isles’ brass gauge Shanahan’s interest in coming to Long Island.
The search has been anything but boring, and it continues to unfold.
Listen and enjoy!
🔗 Islanders on the clock for new president/GM pick by Andrew Gross, Newsday “The Islanders hired Lou Lamoriello as president on May 22, 2018, exactly seven years ago. That gave him exactly one month to prepare for that year’s NHL Draft in Dallas on June 22-23, where he selected Oliver Wahlstrom with the 11th pick and defenseman Noah Dobson immediately after at No. 12. So Lamoriello batted .500 there.”
🔗 Islanders get permission to speak with Brendan Shanahan as front office rebuild continues by Michael Blinn, New York Post “The Islanders received permission to speak with Brendan Shanahan for their ongoing front office search, according to Sportsnet. Shanahan, the longtime NHL star, is at the end of his contract with the Maple Leafs as the team’s president and has become a hot name on the market after Toronto was ousted from the second round of the playoffs on Sunday.”
And we leave you with this…the Isles are sending season ticket holders crystal pucks commemorating Brent Sutter’s Hall-of-Fame induction.
