📰 NEWS: The Islanders were licking their wounds and practicing in Carolina on Tuesday before tonight’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes. Head coach Lane Lambert said it was still too early to provide a timetable for defenseman Sebastian Aho’s upper-body injury. Meanwhile, Matt Martin was activated out of precaution with a couple of guys under the weather and is “close” to returning.
◾️ For The Hockey News, Stefen Rosner provides all the maddening stats for the Islanders this season. Per Rosner, Tuesday night's loss was the eighth time in 21 games that the Islanders gave up the game-winner in the third period or allowed the game to be tied before falling in overtime.
The craziest of the crazy stats, out of 32 teams, the Islanders have spent the least time trailing in games (10:37 minutes), per MoreHockeyStats.com.
◾️ Anders Lee will skate in his 700th career game tonight in Carolina. The Islanders captain will become the 12th player in team history to hit the mark. Lee now trails another fellow captain, Patrick Flatley (712) for the 11th on the list.

📚 SOUND SMART: Per Eric Hornick in The Skinny, Tuesday night in NJ was the first time the Isles lost a game in regulation when leading after two periods since April 29, 2022 (Barry Trotz's final game) vs Tampa Bay.
Since January 2020, Isles had been 54-1-1 when taking a multi-goal lead to the third period. It's their first regulation loss on the road in this situation since December 9, 2014, in Minnesota and ends a 45-game road winning streak (since OT loss on November 12, 2015, in Florida).
🎥 ISLES REWIND: On November 30, 1979, Duane Sutter made his NHL debut, becoming the second of five Sutter brothers to play in the league. Sutter was in the lineup for an injured Billy Harris, who had played all 576 games in franchise history to that point. Sutter scored two goals in his NHL debut, but the eventual Stanley Cup champions lost 5-3 to the Edmonton Oilers at the Northlands Coliseum to drop their record to 6-11-4 on the season.
🔗 The Bridgeport Report: Nov. 29, 2023, by Alan Fuehring, NewYorkIslanders.com “Bridgeport collected two points in three games last week to complete their 11-game slate during the month of November. Six players compiled multiple points including Kyle MacLean, who recorded a team-leading two goals.”
🔗 Julien Gauthier deserves an extended run in this NY Islanders lineup by Michael Stahurski, Eyes on Isles “Signed by the Islanders to a two-year deal during the off-season, Gauthier has appeared in only four games this season. With the injury to Matt Martin, Gauthier has played on the Isles’ fourth line in each of the last two games, making the best of his opportunities in limited minutes.”
And we leave you with this …. the Isles’ wives and girlfriends pick out hundreds of toys for children in local hospitals. You can read more about it HERE
