Good morning, Islanders Country.
In our Isles Fix summer survey, we asked subscribers whether they would listen to a weekly podcast as added content on this platform. More than two-thirds of respondents said they would welcome a podcast as an additional feature to the daily newsletter that hits your inbox each and every weekday during the season.
I know there is a high demand for your listening attention and no shortage of quality Isles podcasts out there. If I was going to publish something under this brand, I wanted to make sure it was rich with analysis that had depth to it.
And with that, I give you the inaugural episode of “The Red Line,” a weekly podcast hosted by David Tuchman (@TuckOnSports) and Phil Farber (@Philzfacts).
I first “met” Phil when he called into a pre-recorded segment for the “PTIsles” podcast I was doing for Lighthouse Hockey a few years back. His points were so clear and concise that I ended up asking if he had ever hosted or had thought about hosting a podcast. Little did I know …
From there, I started following him on the app formerly known as Twitter, where occasionally, he would get under my skin by pointing out my “bad” takes or gloat about how he was able to nail Casey Cizikas’ AAV. He knows the Islanders, he knows the league, and he knows how to make an argument.
Dave is a native New Yorker who now resides on the West Coast. He has an extensive sports content resume, having done various shows focused on everything from the NFL to NASCAR. He’s also an avid poker player and commentator, gambling aficionado, and energetic personality who gets to watch Isles games at 4:30 in the afternoon.
I first listened to them pair up on the TOP SHELF HockeyCast with B.D. Gallof consistently found myself gaining new perspectives about the same team I already watch so closely. Their takes on the team are both fair and unique, and if you disagree with them, they’ll happily debate you on social media.

Enjoy!

And we leave you with this … the new goalie mask beer tower being served at UBS Arena this season. Drink responsibly, friends!
